Men’s Transitional Housing
Men’s Sponsors has several programs serving formerly incarcerated individuals returning to the community. Residential programs for men are located at: Roosevelt Crossing (72 beds including 14 “Honors” beds) Lincoln Street House (10 beds) and Ferry Street Quads (28 beds).
Services at the Roosevelt Crossing program include: Transitional Housing (avg stay 60 – 90 days) and long-term housing (up to 1 year in our “Honors Program”) in our new reentry facility. Roosevelt Crossing has a variety of ancillary and recreational programming and services on-site, including: fitness center, basketball courts, BBQ, garden and a warehouse with donated goods for client use. In addition, Sponsors provides: Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT is an evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), 12-Step Meetings, PTSD Support Groups, and other client focused programming.
Clients are intensively Case Managed in a supportive environment where they are held accountable for their actions. Clients are required to submit to twice weekly drug and alcohol screens (and random tests), daily “check-ins” with staff, engage in structured programming and transition planning. Sponsors provides assistance to obtain state identification, bus passes, work and interview clothing, and bicycles when available.
Clients at Roosevelt Crossing receive supportive assistance to find full-time employment through our Reentry Resource Center, including: weekly workshops, resume building, job search coaching, and job placement. Sponsors supports clients to achieve financial self-sufficiency and requires clients to turn in a minimum of 50% of all earnings to be placed in a savings account for permanent housing.
Upon “successful completion” clients will have: passed all of their drug and alcohol screens, maintained compliance with the conditions of their parole or probation, obtained full-time employment or schooling (or a full-time combination of the two), and acquired permanent, sustainable housing. Every year for the past ten years, between 65 and 75 percent of all clients have successfully completed the Sponsors transitional housing program.
