Women's Transition Program Founded in December, 1993, with five residential beds for women. We are currently located at 767 West 8th Avenue, Eugene, Oregon.
The program offers transitional housing for up to nineteen women, some of whom may have a child living with them. There are 14 beds in the basic program and 5 beds in the women’s Honors Program. Priority is given to women being released from prison. The Women’s program is staffed by Director of Women’s Services, Jean Daugherty; Case Manager, Stephanie Linhart; and Resident Manager, Nelda Daugherty. They offer structure & support to address the complex issues facing our clients, ranging from substance abuse, domestic violence, loss of children and trauma. The average length of residential program participation is approximately three months, an additional month is provided to allow for women’s lower wage earning capacity.
Participants are required to obtain full time employment within a few weeks or be currently attending college with financial aid, or a full-time combination of both. Once employed, residents must place at least 50 % of all earnings in secured savings account to be used by them to obtain stable housing upon program completion. Additionally, participants must submit to drug/alcohol urinalysis testing a minimum of twice weekly and comply with all parole and/or probation requirements.
Clients who successfully complete our program are offered voluntary case management services which include random UA’s, continued assistance with budgeting, and support services as needed. Clients are encouraged to stay in contact with the program not only for their continued support, but also to offer role modeling & mentoring to new women entering the facility. We hope to someday have the funding to provide a higher level of ongoing case management!
