Internships and Volunteers
In 2011 Sponsors developed an Internship Program for students and volunteers from local colleges and universities. Internships with Sponsors advance the knowledge, skills, and professional development of students interested in re-entry and related fields. This effort is carried out by providing interns with foundational knowledge of Sponsors, essential skills to succeed in the non-profit work environment, and opportunities to advance interest and expertise in a specialized area. Internships at Sponsors will increase awareness, advance knowledge of the criminal justice system, and improve community outreach. The role of a Sponsors intern is to learn while contributing positively to the organization.
Sponsors usually has several supervised internship opportunities each term in our Men and Women’s Transitional Housing. Specializations may be in: case management, administration or the Re-entry Resource Center. We maintain an intern office at Roosevelt Crossing men’s housing and offer quarterly trainings for our interns which give them the “full picture” of Sponsors Mission and Programs regardless of their specialization.
We are always looking for committed and enthusiastic Volunteers at Sponsors. Sponsors has many opportunities to volunteer with clients such as:
- Working in our client garden
- Bike clinics
- Sunday night Activity Night with clients and community
- Academic tutoring or teaching classes
- Assisting with events and fundraising
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Joseph 541-485-8341 or see our Mentorship page.
